BO
RUAID ~ THE RED COW ~ THE CRESCENT MOON
Celebrating
the Bo Ruad is an important practice within our tradition because it
keeps us aligned with the Stellar Realm. We worship according to the
ogham lunar cycle, pathworking into the other country each month, sometimes
at multiple times.
Each
season, a different phase of the moon becomes a focal point. During
the season of Spring, Bo Ruad, the Red Cow or new crescent moon is most
auspicious.
The
day when the new crescent appears in the night sky during Spring is
usually within 2-4 days after Bo Orann (dark moon). The duration of
Bo Ruad's energy is up to the sixth day of the lunar cycle. For a listing of the current Year's Bo Ruaid, see the Lunar Calendar.
The
Sixth Moon is an important healing day in our Druidic practices. Some
of you may remember the issue dedicated to these healing practices last
spring.
What
this should convey, is that the important times to align with the moon
in Spring would naturally be Bo Orann, to celebrate the Sacred Tree
month, Bo Ruad to work with some form of healing, and possibly Bo Finn
(Full Moon) if some formal work was begun at Bo Orann.
