The
Sacred Trees
of Grove One:

A
NOTE ABOUT THE SACRED TREES OF GROVE ONE:
The
Pine
Tree is the ruling tree of Grove One. All other trees
are its subordinate.
The
Elm
Tree seeks those of you who are professionals or have
experience with the FFN Web Guild or Internet. Elm is interested
in your participation.
The Rowan
Tree seeks all seanachis, those who know the Sidhe
myths and tales of Faery glamoury.
The Hawthorne
Tree is the gathering place of the Sages of FFN. A
secondary function of this tree is to develop mead making
skills and recipes; one need not be an Sage to respond to
this function.
The
Oak
Tree is the home of the Inspired Grove of Usneach,
FFNs Druidic Clan of Dana Order. If you are called to
undergo training in the Faery Druidic path, please make contact
with Oak by clicking on the link above.

THE
PRIMARY FESTIVAL OF GROVE ONE
This
is the primary festival for Grove One. It welcomes
the light back to the earth. We begin to prepare for
the planting season ahead by cleansing our homes and our
souls. Brigid, who governs the sacred Fire of Inspiration
and the sacred Water of Life, is asked into our homes
and hearts to bless us for the coming year. The Rite
Of Imbolg is preferably celebrated in brightest part
of the day.
Throughout
Ireland, there are many healing wells and springs
dedicated to Brigid. The most well known one is in Kildare;
just outside the town with its famous cathedral dedicated
to her in the Christian faith. It lies in meadows of fertile
beauty with its ancient stones inspiring us to walk among
them and feel her presence. As the cool waters flow from
the well to the archway, the pilgrims who pause there to
bathe face and hands in her sacred essence receive healing
and inspiration.

Across
the road from this site lies yet another and, perhaps,
older well. Here, too, the water contained within
the still pool is laden with the glamoury of this
Faery Goddess.

THE
FESTIVAL IMBOLG
FEBRUARY 1-2
Meaning
and Intent of Imbolg: Dark
days of infertile winter are passing; light of day increases
and fertile spring draws near. We gather today to welcome
Brigid, Lady of Fire and Water to our homes and lives, asking
for purification in preparation for new life and inspiration.
The cleansing of hearth and home make way for Her presence
to enter, reside with us and bless us for the coming year.
You can make equal armed crosses of rushes, grain stalks
or other materials to place over your door and in each room
as a symbol of Brigid's protection and presence. If you
get a chance to travel to Eire, be sure to bring back some
"Brigid's Crosses" for this purpose.

THE
SECONDARY FESTIVAL OF GROVE ONE
Grove
One also participates in An Nollaig, the Winter Solstice.
The Great Mother Goddess gives birth to her sun, which
signals a rebirth of the cycle, bringing forth a new wave
of energy that can be applied to the sacred self. The
most prominent site associated with this astronomical
event is Newgrange. There for five days at winter
solstice, light penetrates the darkness through a special
light box and travels down the passage to the inner chamber
to illuminate it for approximately 17 minutes.

RITUAL OUTLINE
AN NOLLAIG
December
21
We
shall explore the mysteries of another mound, which
is also aligned with the Winter Solstice: Dowth.
The megalithic monument known as Dowth is connected
to a very significant ley line that runs from the Boinne
valley down to the southwest. This mound was known as
the burial mound for the god Erc. Its older name was
Dubtach or Dagda. It has a male and a female
connection. Bo-ann or Boyne was the original
goddess connected to Dowth. Her husband was the high-god
Erc or Elcmar. Her name is also shown
as Sinnan, the river Shannon which is
a variant of Brigid who is said to be the daughter
of Dagda.
The
ley line of Dowth may be none other than Lugh's leg.
One of the stellar alignments possibly captured down the
passageway would have been not only the rising of Sirius
at the rising of the Winter Solstice Sun, but also the
star Rigel located in the foot of Orion.

An
Nollaig Intent: To enter the
Stellar Sphere and work with the Ancient Ones, Erc and
Bo and to seek Their guidance for ourselves and our Beloved
Community for the rebirth of the Wheel of the Year and
the Work of the Groves. We shall emerge from the total
darkness to greet the light of a new cycle. In this ceremony
we will honor the deities first, through offerings/invocations.
Magickally, we will undergo a pathworking, seeking contact
with the mighty ones Erc and Bo. We will each have the
opportunity to receive the most personal information we
need to begin the new cycle of light and life. We will
each be able to know the pathway we are to walk with FFN
in the coming Light. The extra day of the year, or the
morning following solstice, you shall conclude your celebration
by greeting Lugh as he rises.
